Suryagita Cox

Suryagita is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique who has been practising with individuals and groups since 1996. She gives individual lessons at City Osteopaths and loves to help her clients to improve posture, relieve pain and fulfil their human potential. She is particularly successful in helping those with RSI, chronic back and neck pain, tension or restricted breathing, and people find her sessions relaxing and invigorating.

After a few months of Alexander Technique lessons I’m impressed at how much more comfortable my body is. It is now obvious to me how much my usual ways of sitting, standing and moving have led to soreness and stiffness, and the lessons show how to change these patterns.

Everyday activities, such as climbing stairs, working at the computer and gardening, seem much easier – sometimes almost effortless. The sessions are very enjoyable as Suryagita uses gentle manipulation to release muscles and guided movement to create better posture and ways of moving. Lessons in the Alexander Technique with Suryagita help me to find immediate relief when my neck and shoulders are tight at work. I used to feel very tense when working for long hours, “stuck” in my body, as if my head was glued to the top of my spine. Regular lessons with Surya keep me feeling flexible. I no longer feel any pain in my back when I stand at my desk for 10 hours a day. My arms and hands don’t get so stiff, and I have learned how to bend easily at my joints so that I can stand and sit more comfortably. I can now localize where the tension is in my body, and when I relax those areas the pain is whipped away. The result is an ability to focus on my work better, which is a big help when my body is tired.
